CADCA Hosts Fundraising Dinner for Drug-Free Kids Campaign

Washington, D.C. –Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) will host its 20th annual Drug-Free Kids Campaign Awards dinner on October 18, 2018 to raise funds in support of the substance misuse prevention movement.  The fundraising awards event will be held at the Riverview Ballroom of the Gaylord National Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland.

CADCA’s Drug-Free Kids Campaign represents the community coalition movement, whose goal is to combat youth drug use and misuse through a comprehensive multi-sector approach.  It takes the collective efforts of all our sponsors and partners who join CADCA’s mission to strengthen the capacity of community coalitions to create safe, healthy and drug-free communities.

The annual Drug-Free Campaign Awards Dinner will bring together over 400 corporate supporters, federal partners, members of congress and prevention leaders around the country who are committed to prevention, treatment and recovery of substance misuse.

“The annual Drug-Free Kids Campaign Awards is always a great event to celebrate outstanding philanthropy, national leadership and unparalleled advocacy to combating the problem of substance misuse,” said General Arthur T. Dean, Chairman and CEO, CADCA. “We are fortunate to have so many wonderful champions who are passionate about the substance misuse prevention movement and we are especially thrilled to have such a large support from our youth community.”

The Silent Auction is open to the public and bidding for the auction commenced on October 11th. Hot ticket items include vacation packages, hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to sporting events and more!

A few awards will be presented at the Drug-Free Kids Campaign event including:

  • Humanitarian of the Year— Recipients of this award are recognized for their outstanding philanthropy, national leadership and special attention to our cause. This year, we are honoring the team at Verde Technologies, maker of the Deterra® Drug Deactivation System, for their work in helping to increase awareness and usage of safe disposal options for prescription and over-the-counter medications, providing an easy way for people to deactivate and dispose of unwanted or unneeded medications in their own home.  To date, Verde’s Deterra® Drug Deactivation System has helped rid homes of 275 million pills, patches and liquids.
  • Champion of the Year— Recipients of this award demonstrate advocacy and commitment to the substance misuse prevention movement. This year, we are honoring Chester “Chip” Davis, Jr., CEO of the Association for Accessible Medicines, for his role in helping to improve the lives of patients and consumers by providing timely access to safe, effective and affordable medicines.
  • Master of Ceremonies—The Honorable Mary Bono, Principal, Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting and CADCA board member will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the drug-free kids campaign awards dinner.
  • Special Guest—Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) will provide some compelling remarks via video regarding efforts around substance misuse prevention.
