Advocacy

CADCA empowers members to advocate effectively for substance use prevention within the complex landscape of public policy, ensuring their voices are heard amidst competing issues at all levels of government.

We recognize the power of policy and community action in combatting substance use, where small investments of federal funds have a substantial impact on reducing population level rates of substance use. Since its inception, CADCA has helped pass major legislation that supports prevention programs and increases funding for local coalitions. We’ve seen the power of collaboration across party lines in tackling this issue, demonstrating that substance use prevention is a bipartisan priority that transcends political divides.

Every year, at its National Leadership Forum, CADCA mobilizes thousands of prevention professionals to discuss national substance use prevention policy and funding priorities with their members of Congress.
