National data sets can be an instrumental part of coalition work: they help provide a context for the issues confronting local coalitions and can work with state and local data to frame up the main issues in substance misuse. The Annual Survey of Coalitions is the only national survey that is compromised for local coalition data. It can work with other national data sets and helps demonstrate what drug-free coalitions can do. This survey is the leading resource for community-level substance use prevention in the country.
