CADCA’s 2018 National Leadership Forum is Just Around the Corner!

The 28th Annual National Leadership Forum & SAMHSA’s 14th Prevention Day are just around the corner! The 2018 theme “Partnering for Prevention” is seen in the wide range of attendees – from coalition members to community leaders, students to teachers, parents to youth, federal partners to new DFC grantees.

During the week of #CADCAForum, thousands of individuals from across the country will model “Partnering for Prevention.” Keynote speakers include Richard Baum, Acting Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy and Khiree Smith, former CADCA Youth Trainer, who now serves as a Venture Capital & Private Equity Attorney and Global Human Rights Advocate.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), more than 64,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2016 – that’s nearly double in a decade. These alarming statistics remind us of the critical need to focus on prevention now more than ever. We are offering a robust selection of prevention specific training focused on key topics:

·         Evaluation and Research

·         Coalition Leadership

·         Sustainability

·         Marketing and Communications

·         Policy and Advocacy

·         Cross Sector Collaboration

·         What’s Trending

As in years past, the National Leadership Forum will also have youth leadership training sessions that provide interactive opportunities for youth to promote leadership skills, build effective teams, enhance public speaking skills, learn media messaging strategies and share fundraising ideas and challenges. Youth training sessions will be facilitated by CADCA’s youth leaders, CADCA staff, coalition leaders and invited federal partners including NIDA, DEA, and ONDCP.

We can’t wait to foster new partnerships, learn prevention strategies and hear best practices from every perspective!
