COVID-19 Vaccination Statement

Community based substance use and misuse prevention coalition leaders have witnessed first-hand the multi-pronged devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the public health, educational, social and economic toll continues to mount, your work, resilience and creativity has not been lost on us and we have proudly documented the triumphs you have accomplished over the last 14 months.

Since the beginning of COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) has led the nation in providing guidelines to limit the impact of the pandemic, help ensure public safety and save lives. The CDC offers five simple steps to mitigate this pandemic and bring the nation closer to a new normal: Wear a Mask. Stay 6 feet Apart. Wash Your Hands. Avoid Crowds. Get a Vaccine.

To curb the tide and hasten the return to a new normal, we must rely on facts, not fiction, about COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19 vaccines do not alter or interact with your DNA. There is no evidence a COVID-19 vaccination causes any problems with pregnancy. Most importantly – none of the authorized vaccines will make you sick with COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccination is an important tool in the fight against this pandemic. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, with fully vaccinated individuals achieving immunity against the COVD-19 virus in about two weeks. While researchers are still learning how vaccines prevent the spread of this virus and its variants, COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. And they and are becoming widely available.

CADCA encourages members of the prevention movement to be leaders in the effort to get all Americans vaccinated. In hard times, leaders lead. As you continue to make your communities safe, healthy and drug-free, your example and commitment to taking the vaccine makes a difference. Stay engaged, stay safe, and be encouraged—as we can clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel.
