On Friday, June 16, the first meeting of the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Opioid Crisis was held in Washington, DC. Substance use leaders from organizations such as Shatterproof, Partnership for Drug Free Kids, National Council for Behavioral Health and more, gathered to speak to the Commission about where future resources and efforts of substance use should be focused. CADCA’s Chairman and CEO General Arthur T. Dean addressed the Commission, advocating for focused efforts and funding for prevention strategies. The next meeting will be held June 26th to put forth the first draft proposal based off recommendations from the speakers.
