Imagine a world with no drug abuse. CADCA’s coalitions and international partners sure are. One way coalitions can show the world their support for substance abuse prevention is by observing International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World Drug Day, on June 26th.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, this day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by Member States of creating an international society free of drug abuse. This year’s campaign is on the theme of development: “Let’s Develop Our Lives, Our Communities, Our Identities…Without Drugs.”
“We are honored to have the distinct opportunity of collaborating with our international partners to bring our comprehensive approach to reducing drug use around the world. The coalition building we are doing is making a positive difference in this country, and abroad,” said CADCA’s Chairman and CEO, Gen. Arthur T. Dean.
CADCA is one of a few U.S.-based non-government organizations (NGO) that have consultative status with the UN and is a member of the Vienna NGO Committee.
“CADCA hopes coalitions will once again get into the spirit of World Drug Day and share what you are doing with us on our social media platforms, World Drug Day is observed in many of the countries where CADCA is building community coalitions,” said Dr. Eduardo Hernandez, Vice President of CADCA’s International Programs.
