My name is Stevi Johnson. I am 11 years old and from Oklahoma. I went to CADCA Mid-Year and represented the IAMNDN coalition. I also attended the NYLI classes. My experience in the NYLI classes was fun. I liked the way the trainers in there taught. They were humorous and serious. I was one of the younger students in there. I presented two times, and yes, I did learn a lot.
I learned a lot about making action plans, logic models and knowing the right facts about the problems in my community. In my community there is a lot of underage drinking. I made an action plan on how I will stop it. I also made a logic model. The trainers had us present our plans and talk about our communities. The bottom line, I really liked CADCA Mid-Year and if you are making second thoughts about going, I think you should go. I’m 11 and I learned a lot.
Here’s a little bit more about me. I’m Stevi Mahri Johnson from Oklahoma and I am Native American. My tribes are Absentee Shawnee, Sac and Fox, a little bit of Creek, and a little bit of Delaware. I’m also Latino. Right now I’m representing my Sac and Fox tribe by being the 2016-2017 Jr. Ms. Sac and Fox Nation Intertribal Princess. My Native name is Thedahquah which means “Misty Girl.” I am in middle school as a 6el grader and very excited to start school. I excel in school by being in orchestra and in the Gifted and Talented Program.
Substance abuse has happened in my family and that is why I am so interested in stopping it. I wanted to use being princess as a platform to speak out about it. I race road bikes and that is what got me to be featured in the Absentee Shawnee Mydnarocks campaign. This campaign focuses on preventing underage drinking. This also made me able to meet the United States Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
I got to ride my bike in their video. I have won over 20 medals and trophies in biking. I’m really proud of the things I have accomplished and in the future I hope to continue to be a good influence on my friends and help combat underage substance abuse.
