President and CEO, Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association
Anita Brikman serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA). With a robust background in health care communications, public affairs, and association management, Brikman brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the dynamic trade association serving plasma collectors and the manufacturers of lifesaving plasma-derived medicines.
At PPTA, Brikman oversees offices in Washington, D.C., Annapolis, and Brussels. She has been instrumental in advocating for policies that enhance donor health and expand patient access to lifesaving plasma protein therapies. Under her leadership, PPTA has secured policy changes in several U.S. states to increase plasma donation, increased membership and engagement in the Congressional Plasma Caucus, and made significant strides in Europe to strengthen the supply of plasma and plasma-derived medicines. With Brikman’s guidance, these efforts and others focused on safeguarding high-quality standards for donors and patients. Brikman has also led the organization in championing collaboration with all stakeholders, especially regulators and policymakers.
Brikman previously served as Senior Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs at the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) and had a dual role as the Executive Director of the CHPA Educational Foundation. Prior to that, she led the communications team at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
An accomplished broadcast journalist by training, Brikman spent nearly two decades as a news anchor and medical reporter at WUSA9 (CBS) in Washington, D.C., and WPVI (ABC) in Philadelphia.
Brikman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Miami University and resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
