The Prevention Conference for the Next Generation

Young people aren’t waiting to make a difference. They’re already showing up for their communities. This July, CADCA’s 25º Annual Mid-Year Training Institute gives them the tools, training, and connections to lead prevention work in their homes and schools.

From July 12-16 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, youth ages 13-19 will participate in hands-on training sessions alongside peers from coalitions across the country and learn from prevention experts and community leaders, giving them skills they can put to work the moment they get home.

Youth attendees can choose from two dedicated learning tracks designed to meet them where they are.

Key Essentials is a foundational training for youth who are new to prevention work. Through hands-on sessions, participants build practical tools to address substance misuse, vaping, underage drinking, prescription drug misuse, and other community challenges — all grounded in evidence-based strategies.

Pathways to Prevention is the advanced track for youth who’ve already completed Key Essentials. This track goes deeper into leadership, coalition-building, and community-driven prevention, preparing young people to take the lead back home.

Both tracks are part of CADCA’s Mid-Year Training Institute, which is co-located with the inaugural DEA Fentanyl Free America Summit this year. That means attendees get access to both events, all for the price of one registration. Youth will participate in networking opportunities with prevention experts, federal leaders, and community advocates from across the nation.

The programming doesn’t stop in the classroom. Youth attendees can look forward to a talent show, morning inspirations to kick off each day, and a Meet Up N’ Chill social to connect with their peers. It’s the kind of experience that sticks with youth and builds the relationships that make prevention work stronger.

This year, CADCA has partnered with Experience Kissimmee, giving attendees access to special offerings at some of Orlando’s most popular attractions, including Walt Disney World, Universal Epic Universe, Universal Studios Florida, and SeaWorld. A link to access these offerings will be shared with registered attendees. Not to mention, the Gaylord Palms is a full resort experience, with plenty to enjoy throughout your stay:

  • Water slides, lazy river, pool, and hot tubs
  • Daily yoga at 8 AM and 10 AM on the Coquina Lawn
  • Wildlife encounters—get up close with live animals like baby alligators
  • An arcade that’s open 24/7
  • Spa and fitness center

First-time attendees and returning youth leaders, this is the summer to make the trip. Register by the early bird deadline on Tuesday, June 9
