CADCA, along with 18 other state and national organizations wrote a letter to the House Oversight and Accountability Committee opposing the USPS Shipping Equity Act (HR 3721). This bill raises major public health concerns because it undermines the 3-tier system of alcohol control and increases the potential for unsafe, unlicensed, tainted, counterfeit alcohol to avoid regulation and enter the marketplace. Most importantly, underage drinking is the number one substance use issue facing American youth and this legislation would only exacerbate the problem.

CADCA Submits Comments to Congressional Committees Regarding Hemp-Derived CBD Products

CADCA has drafted comments to the House Energy & Commerce Committee and Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, urging Congress to close the loophole which has allowed for the proliferation of synthetic and semi-synthetic cannabinoids, such as delta-8 THC and delta-10 THC, derived from hemp. These substances can have intoxicating, psychoactive and hallucinogenic effects.

Letter in Support of the Stop Pills That Kill Act

The Stop Pills That Kill Act requires the implementation of education and prevention efforts to stop the use of counterfeit fentanyl and methamphetamine substances and establishes strategies to enable law enforcement to seize these substances. The bill also enacts new penalties for counterfeit pill production and requires the Drug Enforcement Administration to provide a plan to address the spread of counterfeit pills.
