Who is Missing and Why?

Thursday, July 18th
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Room:
Texas 1-3
Description:

The purpose of the session is to discuss effective prevention and coalition culture. The presenters will share research on how leadership and membership issues can weaken a coalition's effectiveness. They will also share how missing community groups like youth, racial and or sexual minorities, etc. can enhance prevention strategies. Finally, this interactive session will give participants time to discuss their own communities and how they plan to employ the presented concepts to enhance their prevention outcomes.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Describe the components of cultural competence
2. Implement components of cultural competence to coalition capacity building
3. Evaluate current leadership practices in their coalitions
