Description

Are you a Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant recipient and wondering what to do to become a sustainable coalition after funding ends in Year 5 or 10? Or maybe you don’t have a DFC grant, but you want to ensure that you are building a coalition that continues for years to come? A key factor in the work of all community coalitions is for their substance use prevention efforts to have longevity and a lasting impact. Join us to learn how DFC grant recipients are laying the foundation for sustainability by doing things such as building relationships within their communities, developing strategic plans, providing technical assistance and expertise to local partners, and searching for future funding opportunities. There will also be opportunities to share ideas for sustainability with other coalitions. All are welcome, regardless of grant status!

Learning Objectives

At the end of the session, participants will:

1) Have a clear understanding of the steps that DFC grant recipients take in planning for sustainability.

2) Be better prepared to brainstorm strategies for sustaining local coalition work.
