Using PDMP Data in Strategic Planning: Understanding Nuanced Data

11:30 AM
12:45 PM
Chesapeake 7-9

This session will define key terms and walk participants through interpreting Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) data to use as benchmarks for prevention programming. Using county, and state level examples from Ohio, this session will provide insight into key terms used in PDMPS, discuss the process by which data are entered, or extracted, and provide examples of how these data can be used to strategically plan, and benchmark your work.

We will also discuss how these data differ from typical data used by prevention professionals, and discuss the nuanced approach that will help use these data effectively.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Define key terms used in Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs

2. Identify what data are recorded into Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs

3. Provide examples of how to effectively use these data in strategic planning
