Trends and Interventions that Work to Prevent Underage Drinking
This session will outline new research on the trends and consequences of underage drinking, as well as interventions to prevent and reduce underage drinking that have emerged since the 2007 Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking. The session will explore recent trends in injury deaths linked to underage drinking, binge drinking and driving under the influence. Additionally, learn the effects of underage drinking on the developing brain, blackouts, overdoses and academic performance. Join us as we examine research on individuals, current policies and family/school/web/community-based interventions.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Understand the latest trends and consequences of underage drinking.
2) Learn intervention strategies to prevent and reduce underage drinking.
3) Understand recent trends in injury deaths linked to underage drinking.
