Dr. John L. Harrison Sr., DM, SPHR
Dr. John Harrison serves as Special Assistant to the Chairman and CEO, CADCA and Program Director, CADCA VetCorps (Veterans and Family Members Corps). Dr. Harrison returns to CADCA after a ten-year sabbatical, during which time he taught leadership and management education in national security and financial settings. John first served with CADCA as Vice President, Membership and Administration, and Special Assistant to General Dean from 2001 to 2003.
John served 32 years in uniform with the United States Army in a variety of leadership and management roles. In the last decade of his Army career he served as a special assistant to many of our nations’ senior four-star uniformed leaders. Those officials included Commander in Chief, United Nations Command, Korea; Commander in Chief, United States Army, Europe and Seventh Army, Germany; Commander, NATO Peace Stabilization Force, Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army; and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Dr. Harrison served as Professor of Civilian Leader Development at Army Management Staff College, Fort Belvoir, VA, from 2003 to 2012. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in 2005, as an Army civilian to assist reconstruction efforts as part of the U.S. Army’s Corps of Engineers effort. Prior to his return to CADCA, John was an Associate Professor of Leadership and Management, Corporate University, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Washington, DC.
Dr. Harrison holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology, Excelsior College, Albany, NY; Master of Science degree in Education and Counseling, Long Island University, Long Island, NY; Graduate Certificate in Leadership Studies, Central Michigan University; Graduate Certificate in Defense and Security Studies, Missouri State University; and the Doctor of Management degree in Organizational Leadership, University of Phoenix. John is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), by the Human Resources Certification Institute, Society for Human Resource Management, Alexandria, Virginia.
