Succeeding at Engaging the Law Enforcement Sector: Lessons Learned from Drug-Free Communities Coalitions

Tuesday, 02/05/2019
1:45 PM
3:00 PM
Chesapeake G-I

Description

Law Enforcement is one of the key twelve sectors Drug-Free Communities (DFC) coalitions engaged in order to prevent youth substance use. Join the DFC National Evaluation Team and a panel from DFC coalitions to learn how coalitions are succeeding in this area. Discussion will focus on engagement with local, county and state law enforcement, school district law enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and staff from local High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA). Law enforcement engagement helps to build local capacity but this collaboration does not happen by accident. Join our discussion and leave with tips to better engage this sector in your community.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to learn how successful engagement between DFC coalitions and law enforcement comes about and identify how engagement benefits each in their efforts to prevent youth substance use and learn ideas for improving engagement or overcoming challenges to engagement in your local community
