Social Host Ordinances: Promising practices in Policy and Enforcement Strategies

Tuesday, July 16th
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Room:
Grapevine 4-6
Description:

Many communities and states across the country are passing social host laws, yet not all of these laws have the same impact. This session will explore the factors that make social host policies more or less effective. Included will be an in depth discussion of how to craft strong social host policy as well as how to maximize impact post passage through media, organizing and enforcement. Participants can be at any stage of social host policy work from pre-conception to post passage.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Draft social host policy at the local level
2. Work more effectively with law enforcement on myriad policy issues
3. Learn how to engage in media campaigns to support policy implementation
4. Know how to effectively engage diverse organizations and sectors in moving policy forward
