SAMHSA: Extending the Reach of Technology Transfer Centers (TTCs)

Thursday, July 18th
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Grapevine A

The purpose of SAMHSA’s TTCs is to develop and strengthen the specialized behavioral healthcare and primary healthcare workforce that provides substance use disorder and mental health prevention, treatment and recovery support services. The TTCs now serve as a resource available to practitioners, behavioral health systems, and the public alike, and are comprised of three networks: the Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTCs), the Mental Health Technology Transfer Centers (MHTTCs), and the Prevention Technology Transfer Centers (PTTCs). Additionally, there are TTCs dedicated to American Indian and Alaska Native and Hispanic and Latino populations.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Clarify the rationale for changes associated with SAMHSA’s TTCs and differences between SAMHSA’s previous TTC approach and the current TTC expansion
2. Explore the framework of SAMHSA TTCs, their areas of focus, what they can provide to whom, how they work synergistically, and the organizations that lead them
3. Examine in greater depth the PTTCs and vision moving forward, and discuss opportunities associated with SAMHSA’s TTCs specific to prevention and beyond
4. Discover the mission and vision of the Hispanic and Latino TTCs and how they can support communities
5. Learn how to navigate the TTC websites and explore a prevention-related “wish list” of needs and training gaps for TTCs consideration
