A nationwide group of 43 attorneys general recently signed a letter addressed to nine major oil company presidentsexpressing concern that employees of their gas stations distribute synthetic marijuana.<\/p>\n
The letter from the National Association of Attorneys General says confusion surrounding synthetic drugs allows dealers to convince retail shops at gas stations to carry the products despite their federal illegality.<\/p>\n
The association called for leaders at BP, Phillips 66, Chevron, Shell, Citgo, Sunoco, Valero, Exxon Mobil and Marathon Petroleum to communicate and enforce standards with store franchisees.<\/p>\n
The attorneys general’s request the following actions are considered by these oil companies to address this growing problem:<\/p>\n
Prohibit franchisees from selling any synthetic drugs;<\/p>\n
Ensure this prohibition is understood by store franchisees and their employees by communicating directly with each of them;<\/p>\n
Establish a point of contact in corporate offices for franchisees, should they have any questions about synthetic drugs;<\/p>\n
Revoke franchisee\/franchisor relationship with any gas station or convenience store that sells any kind of synthetic drugs; and<\/p>\n
Report to local law enforcement authorities if any franchisee is selling synthetic drugs.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
