Well, you\u2019re in for a great journey through the Seven Strategies for Community Change and how they can be applied to reduce impaired driving in your community.<\/p>\n<p>Alcohol-impaired driving crashes still account for one-third of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.\u00a0The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $51 billion. Facts such as these continue to drive efforts in communities around the country to reduce driving under the influence. CADCA, through the support of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has developed an Impaired Driving Prevention Toolkit to aid community efforts with the latest research and evidence-based strategies.<\/p>\n<p>CADCA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/about-the-tool-kit\/about-the-toolkit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Impaired Driving Prevention Toolkit<\/a> is designed to provide coalitions, law enforcement partners and drug prevention practitioners with strategies to prevent and reduce impaired driving in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEquipped with the findings from key research in the field, the toolkit\u2019s Impaired Driving Prevention Strategies highlight environmental strategies that coalitions can use to change the context (or environment) in which impaired driving occurs,\u201d said Allison Jacobs, CADCA\u2019s MPH, ICPS, Evaluation and Research Manager.<\/p>\n<p>The Toolkit offers a variety of strategies aimed at changing or influencing community conditions, standards, institutions, systems and policies. To assist coalitions with assessing and planning their impaired driving prevention efforts, the Toolkit provides\u00a0links to significant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/other-resources\/research\/\" title=\"Research\">research\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0top experts\u00a0in the field, fact sheets,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/facts-tools\/how-to-conduct-a-community-assessment-on-impaired-driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"How to Conduct a Community Assessment on Impaired Driving\" rel=\"noopener\">guidelines for data collection<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/facts-tools\/sample-logic-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Sample Logic Models\" rel=\"noopener\">sample logic models<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/facts-tools\/sample-intervention-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Sample Interventions Maps\" rel=\"noopener\">sample intervention maps<\/a>\u00a0\u0438\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.preventimpaireddriving.org\/success-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Success Stories\" rel=\"noopener\">success stories<\/a>\u00a0to inform decision making and communication.<\/p>\n<p>Alcohol continues to be the number one substance of choice among young people and many communities are looking for ways to address this problem. That\u2019s why reducing underage and binge drinking is key. And who better to cover the topic than Dr. David Jernigan, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society, and Director of the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>Jernigan developed CADCA\u2019s brand-new Strategizer.
