Upcoming Research Into Action Webinar: Tobacco Minimum Floor Price Laws and Adult Smoking Prevalence

Wednesday, July 15, 2020 – CADCA along with its Geographic Health Equity Alliance and in partnership with Counter Tools is proud to present this installment of its Research Into Action webinar series on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 1 pm EST featuring Dr. Shelley Golden and Derek Carr, JD, discussing their recent article, “Simulating the Impact of a Cigarette Minimum Floor Price Law on Adult Smoking Prevalence in California”, which was published inNicotine & Tobacco Research in 2020. Dr. Golden and Mr. Carr will discuss their and their colleagues’ article’s findings regarding minimum floor price laws in tobacco control. The article found that as the floor price of cigarettes increased, prevalence of tobacco use and cigarette consumption decreased, more among individuals in households below 250% federal poverty level. Dr. Golden and Mr. Carr will discuss the implications their findings have for coalitions looking for ways to reduce socioeconomic disparities in adult tobacco consumption in their communities. They will also discuss how coalitions can effectively implement non-tax pricing policies to impact tobacco or other substance use.
