Recovery - What Every Prevention Person Needs to Know
Description
Prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction are all part of the continuum of care for substance use. So why then, do we only train as singular components? Coalitions aim to create healthier communities and that is not limited to those focused on prevention or those on recovery. This workshop will help us drill down from the community level to the very individual level, putting a face on substance use disorder and the personal toll it takes. Addiction can shrink one’s world into a stark self-imprisonment. In recovery, many will seek to re-enter the world and be of meaningful service to others. It is imperative and vital coalitions provide such opportunities. Attendees will look for ways for coalitions to reduce negative public perception, break through the silos, and create meaningful ways for all to participate and benefit from lived experience.
