CADCA\u2019s Chairman and CEO, Gen. Arthur T. Dean, recently served on a panel titled \u201cPreventing and Addressing Opioid Misuse and Abuse: Our Nation\u2019s Challenge\u201d for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The panel was recorded as part of a monthly program called \u201cRoad to Recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show aired this week on SAMHSA\u2019s website.<\/a><\/p>\n

The show highlights recent trends prescription opioid misuse and heroin use; opioid use disorders; and emergency department visits, overdose, and treatment episodes related to prescription opioids and heroin.<\/p>\n

In addition, the discussion features the White House initiative on High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas, which applies a broad range of efforts to reduce the distribution and use of heroin. It also covers the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s (CDC) Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain which were released last spring.<\/p>\n
