CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) announced Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Acting Director Richard Baum will keynote the National Leadership Forum\u2019s Opening Plenary on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.<\/p>\n
Approximately 3,000 community leaders will unite at CADCA\u2019s 28\u00ba<\/sup> Annual National Leadership Forum. The week-long event will be held\u00a0Feb. 5-8, 2018,<\/strong>\u00a0at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. Forum will kick off with the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration\u2019s (SAMHSA) Prevention Day; feature 70+ training sessions covering topics ranging from the marijuana legislation landscape and tobacco cessation to the opioid epidemic and underage drinking; offer attendees the unique opportunity to meet with members of Congress on Capitol Hill Day; and welcome hundreds of youth to take part in CADCA\u2019s Youth Leadership Summit to learn how to become effective community leaders.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to have Acting Director Baum serve as our keynote speaker at Forum and we are eager to hear what he will share with attendees,\u201d said General Arthur T. Dean, Chairman & CEO, CADCA. \u201cActing Director Baum brings decades of experience in the prevention field to the table and he has dedicated his career to drug issues. Together, alongside partners like him, we can bring prevention to the forefront and reduce the drug epidemic within the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n Acting Director Baum was appointed as head of the ONDCP in March 2017 by President Donald Trump. Previously, he worked for almost twenty years at the ONDCP in various positions. Among the highlights of his career is leading efforts to draft the National Drug Control Strategy in both the Bush and Obama Administration, and co-chairing work groups that put together the White House Transnational Organized Crime Strategy and the National Southwest Border Counternarcotics Strategy.<\/p>\n CADCA\u2019s National Leadership Forum is a four-day event packed with opportunities to learn the latest strategies to address substance abuse and hear from nationally-known prevention experts, federal administrators, and concerned policymakers. Forum brings together attendees representing coalitions from all regions of the country and internationally, government leaders, youth, prevention specialists, addiction treatment professionals, addiction recovery advocates, researchers, educators, law enforcement professionals, and faith-based leaders.
