{"id":18273,"date":"2021-04-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cadca1stg.wpengine.com\/2021\/04\/07\/cadca-and-johnson-johnson-partner-on-otc-video-tutorials\/"},"modified":"2024-04-24T18:22:28","modified_gmt":"2024-04-24T18:22:28","slug":"cadca-and-johnson-johnson-partner-on-otc-video-tutorials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cadca.org\/pt\/homepage\/cadca-and-johnson-johnson-partner-on-otc-video-tutorials\/","title":{"rendered":"CADCA and Johnson &#038; Johnson Partner on OTC Video Tutorials"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">CADCA and Johnson &#038; Johnson (J&#038;J) partnered recently\u00a0to raise awareness about the Over the Counter (OTC) Medicine Safety program, and to expand its use in schools.\u00a0 A significant amount of research suggests that children begin to self-medicate around 11 years old (5<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0or 6<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0grade).\u00a0 As a result, with the help of a youth coalition leader, the aim of the program was to teach the OTC Medicine Safety program to 5<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0e 6<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0alunos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">A series of five video tutorials were created to virtually train teen coalition leaders interested in implementing the program in their local communities.\u00a0 The series reviewed best practices for teaching 5<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0e 6<sup>\u00ba<\/sup>\u00a0graders, as well as the materials needed for every lesson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The concept for the video tutorials as an additional resource to the OTC Medicine Safety program was first \u00a0introduced at a 75-minute session entitled \u201cHow to Engage Teens and Tweens on Medicine Safety\u201d presented by\u00a0<strong>Dhuha Saber<\/strong>, Associate Manager of Science and Compliance, OTC Medical Affairs, Johnson &#038; Johnson Consumer, Inc.,\u00a0<strong>Krista Osterthaler<\/strong>, Vice President, National Data Services, American Association of Poison Control Centers and\u00a0<strong>Shweta Adyanthaya<\/strong>, Director of Communications and Marketing, CADCA at CADCA\u2019s National Leadership Forum in February 2018.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Introduction Video provides an overview of the OTC Medicine Safety program, including the lesson plans, facilitator guides, student worksheets, activities, posters, assessment tools and additional resources available on the website.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"472.5\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/J4KIdRzV2iQ\" width=\"840\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Video One defines OTC and prescription medicines, examining and reiterating the differences between the two.\u00a0 This lesson also reviews how to responsibly use medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"472.5\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nrBuSQu1SKk\" width=\"840\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Video Two identifies the drug facts label and reviews the definitions of the terms within labels and the potential consequences of not doing so. The lesson also identifies the steps to take in the event of a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">medicine<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"472.5\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cd4CzMcnqDk\" width=\"840\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Video Three focuses on dosing information relative to the drug facts labels and reiterates why using proper dosing tools is important. The video also describes safe and unsafe locations for medicine storage and safe disposal of medications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"472.5\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JcY-0vPrSRE\" width=\"840\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Video Four defines misuse as it relates to OTC medicine and discusses the harmful effects of misusing OTC medicines, as well as the steps to take when encountered with OTC misuse.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"472.5\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bMmw6qY4YZg\" width=\"840\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--pagebreak--><!--pagebreak--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CADCA and Johnson &#038;
