Prevention Coalitions Can Do Anything! Helping our Community Understand Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Thursday, 02/07/2019
2:45 PM
4:00 PM
National Harbor 10-11

Description

Coalitions can be powerful agents of change to help solve complex issues beyond those strictly in traditional prevention. This session will discuss how one coalition decided to take action towards addressing the under-utilization of medication-assisted treatment and educating the community on the effectiveness of treatment, resources available in the community and addressed issues related to stigma with addiction using the 7 environmental strategies.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to know how to increase collaboration among agencies and providers. They will know how to increase awareness for issues and services using tools which have already been developed for coalition use and have a greater understanding of MAT and how working with non-traditional coalition members can help build capacity for the coalition.
