Prevention in All Walks of Life
Every person brings our own story to the important work we do. We bring our diverse cultural, racial, gender and sexual orientation identities. Many of us also bring stories of trauma, struggle, oppression, illness and other parts of ourselves and our stories that may or may not be visible on the outside, but they exist. In this interactive and dynamic workshop, we will challenge ourselves to explore and share the differences, commonalities and gifts that make us the leaders we are and the leaders we are still becoming. Come and join this experience of respect, inclusion, courage and inspiration.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Understand and operationalize the concepts of commonality and differences, as these apply specifically to coalition work
2) Balance humility, safety, sensitivity and courage in difficult conversations about identity in coalition work
3) Understand and communicate the importance of setting, respecting and identifying boundaries when working with or leading diverse groups
