Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention: Pivoting During a Pandemic
Description
Everyone has had to pivot during the COVID-19 pandemic, but how do coalitions dependent on community outreach pivot to provide resources to residents? Since 2016, Summit County Community Partnership brought together more than 100 organizations from all sectors of the community to prevent prescription opioid misuse. Together, these partners have distributed more than 120,000 Deterra™ drug deactivation pouches, which can safely eliminate up to five million pills, and changed the way their community disposes medicine. This workshop examines how one coalition pivoted, maximized existing partnerships and built new relations to reach the community in their homes.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Identify and engage strategic partners across multiple sectors to create community-level change
2) Implement technology to increase community partners and resident participation
