Overcoming Barriers to Volunteer Assignment Completion

Monday, July 15th
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Room:
Grapevine 1-3
Description:

Coalitions are very effective prevention resources, yet coordinating coalitions present unique challenges. One universal challenge is motivating coalition volunteers to participate, complete and report on assignments. In this presentation, we will discuss how to overcome those challenges, and set volunteers up for success, from start to finish. We will discuss how to invite volunteers to help in the creation of assignments, how to make volunteer opportunities meaningful and doable and how to follow up on assignment completion. We will talk about how to present assignments in more appealing ways, and some simple tips you can implement to encourage coalition members to volunteer.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. By the end of the presentation, participants will know how to involve coalition members and partners in the creation of the action plan.
2. By the end of the presentation, participants will know how to encourage volunteers to participate in a variety of assignments to complete the action plan.
3. By the end of the presentation, participants will know how to follow up with volunteers on the completion of their assignments.
