The "Nuts and Bolts" of Coalition Work for Newcomers
Description
This session is geared toward helping new coalition members and staff learn the day-to-day operations of coalition work. Participants will learn ways to make their coalition products and documents (e.g. logic model, action plan, budget) living documents that are integrated into the work of the coalition. We will discuss the different roles and responsibilities of the staff vs. coalition volunteers, and will discuss the necessary balance between the administrative tasks and the community outreach and organizing that can reduce substance use in your community.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Learn ways to integrate the coalition's documents (i.e., logic model, action plan, budget, etc.) into the day-to-day work of the coalition
2) Distinguish the roles and responsibilities of the staff from those of the coalition members
3) Learn the basics of community engagement and organizing
