02/01/2023
1:30 PM
2:45 PM
National Harbor 10-11

Description

NIAAA-supported studies have made major contributions advancing our understanding and knowledge about the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and alcohol-related problems. Thanks to such research, today more life-saving resources are available than ever before. However, alcohol misuse and the stigma facing those affected by AUD remain important public health issues. In this Power Session, NIAAA Director George F. Koob, Ph.D., will provide an overview of alcohol-related research and will highlight NIAAA resources that coalitions can share with their communities and stakeholders. Dr. Koob will also be available to answer questions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. understand the mission and research of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
2. share information about alcohol prevention and treatment as well as NIAAA resources.
