NEW STATEWIDE COALITION ADDRESSING OPIOID ADDICTION HOSTS LAUNCH EVENT IN RENO
Reno – RALI Nevada, a new coalition formed to address opioid misuse and addiction across the state, held its first event here today. The launch event served as an opportunity to discuss ways to properly dispose of unused medication, including using everyday household items or specialized drug disposal pouches. The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), a RALI Nevada partner, participated in the event.
“These disposal kits are an important tool and will be put to good use, but the most important aspect of our anti-addiction efforts is the broad base of community support,” said General Arthur Dean, Chairman and CEO of CADCA. “Too many people have died, and too many are currently at risk from the dangers of misused opioids. We can’t wait any longer.”
The event was hosted at the headquarters of the Nevada Realtors, one of RALI Nevada’s state partners. More than a dozen community and national partners, representing healthcare stakeholders, veterans, industry leaders, realtors and others attended the event.
One of RALI Nevada’s first efforts will focus on common ways that Nevada residents can safely dispose of unused medicines, which also includes taking advantage of state drug take-back locations. As a result of this initiative, RALI partners will have the opportunity to distribute 50,000 pouches to residents across the state.
