Dr. Leon D. Caldwell is an award winning scholar-activist who has extensive experience translating research for practical application. Dr. Caldwell received his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Penn State University; a Master’s in Education and Bachelors in Economics from Lehigh University.
Currently he is a Senior Research Director at ThinkShift a Washington, DC based social innovation collaborative of the DeBruce Foundation. Leon has previously held positions as a Senior Research Associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Associate Professorships at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, the University of Memphis, and Rhodes College. In addition, he has been a staff psychologist at the University of California Irvine and Adjunct Professor at the University of Education, Winneba.
Dr. Caldwell has published several papers, reports, blog post and facilitated hundreds of workshops on range of topics such as mental health service delivery strategies, empowerment evaluation, men’s health, cultural diversity, professional ethics, systems and youth development. A successful workshop is when participants are engaged, learning is collaborative and attendees are empowered to mobilize for change.
