Leaders Have Followers: Building a Committed Coalition Through Transformative Partnerships

Monday, July 15th
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
San Antonio 4-6

Transforming communities requires transformative partnerships. But not every partnership needs to be a marriage. Learn how to strategically identify community partners who make sense and can help leverage your coalition goals. Traditional stakeholders are the foundation of coalition work, but the magic happens when we develop creative, cross-sector partnerships with outside-the-box leaders and organizations. Learn to strengthen your networking skills to discover shared goals and purposes with under-recognized groups within your community. Be inspired by one coalition’s effective leverage of dealerships, stickers, race cars, and even superheroes to develop collaborative, relevant messaging and widespread community support. Transformative partnerships require a mastery of WHY our mission matters, and a charismatic leader who can articulate that vision in order to build strong allies within our communities. If you're struggling to get stakeholders to the table, struggling to keep them engaged, or just need some fresh ideas, this session will also develop your capacity as a leader to build energy and momentum and make your mission so engaging community members will be jumping on board!

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Identify uncommon prevention partners and actively engage them in fresh, creative, mutually beneficial partnerships. 2. Network more effectively in order to discover shared goals in community leaders and organizations, develop collaborative, relevant messaging, and build transformative partnerships. 3. Understand the power in leveraging WHY coalition work matters, and the role of a visionary leader in creating an authentic culture of shared purpose. 4. Bring back proven strategies and fresh inspiration to reignite energy and momentum within coalition membership and the greater community.
