Ecuador

CADCA was invited to Guayaquil, Ecuador to train three communities by the Mayor of Duran Municipality in 2018. Presently, there are two coalitions in Duran: Cerro Redondo and Derecho los Pobres/Las Violetas/El Condor. By the second training all three had begun implementing community surveys, hosting focus groups and collecting other information to inform their community assessments. The information gleaned was so robust and illuminating, the local government duplicated the strategy in its other communities. As of late 2019, the Ministry of Health is exploring a collaboration with CADCA to institutionalize the community coalition model within their prevention strategy.
