Brazil
CADCA initiated work in Brazil in 2008. The first community to receive training and technical assistance was Pindamonhangaba, located in the state of São Paulo. Subsequently, Pindamonhangaba formed the first coalition and neighboring cities like Taubaté, Pompéia and Ubatuba then formed coalitions after receiving training and technical assistance from CADCA. As a result of the success of this effort, an umbrella organization, the Associação Pró Coalizões Comunitárias Antidrogas do Brasil, was formed.
Today, the Associação Pró Coalizões Comunitárias Antidrogas do Brasil is CADCA’s national partner and is registered as a non-profit organization with the mission of enhancing the capacity of community coalitions in the country of Brazil. Since 2014, CADCA has worked hand in hand with the Associação Pró Coalizões Comunitárias Antidrogas do Brasil to expand and develop additional coalitions throughout the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco, and has established a national network made up of 20 community coalitions.
