Increasing Influence: Analyzing Your Coalition’s Base of Power (Advanced)

Tuesday, July 16th
1:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Grapevine 4-6

In this session training participants will be encouraged to dissect their coalition’s influence in the community. Which people and organizations is the coalition connected to? Are these people and organizations part of the decisions that are made in the community? Often the coalition is connected tangentially to these people or organizations but has limited leverage when asking for community change. This session will employ an organizing model to assess the influence the coalition has and offer practical steps on what the coalition can do to increase their influence in the community to reduce substance misuse.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Engage key stakeholders from all sectors in moving change initiatives forward.
2. Honestly assess their current base of power.
3. Employ techniques within the coalition and community to improve their influence.
