9:00 AM
10:15 AM
Chesapeake 7-9

How ethics apply to coalitions provides coalition leaders and members with information regarding the importance of including strong ethics and conduct in their coalitions for staff and volunteers. Ethical behavior is important for sustainability of a coalition and its efforts but is often overlooked. This shows the ripple effect of unethical practices at an environmental level while offering basic insight and tools to develop a strong code of conduct for coalition volunteers. There is explanation of ethical issues as opposed to ethical dilemmas. The University of Florida's 10-Step decision making model will be provided to share how to provide the best solution when a coalition is faced with an ethical dilemma. Finally, social justice is addressed and explained as a cornerstone to any code of conduct formation or ethical dilemma situation.
