Cinco de Mayo celebrates a battle in which an army of Mexican peasants defeated the highly-trained invading French forces on May 5, 1862, in Puebla, Mexico. It is the story of the successful underdog and a way to honor a nation’s heritage and culture. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, as many people believe. It is also not a reason to drive drunk.<\/p>\n

But as many Americans gear up to celebrate what has become one of the top drinking holidays, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides free marketing materials for coalitions to prevent impaired driving on the 5e<\/sup> day of May.<\/p>\n

These marketing tools can be used to fit coalitions\u2019 needs and objectives while, at the same time, partnering with other states, communities, and organizations on this drunk driving prevention initiative.<\/p>\n

NHTSA\u2019s campaign, Amigos Don’t Let Amigos Drive Drunk, can be utilized easily by coalitions. Click\u00a0ici<\/a>\u00a0and get your campaign materials.<\/p>\n

Many CADCA coalitions also might find the materials useful in any alcohol-free Cinco de Mayo fiestas they might be hosting this year.<\/p>\n
