Learn how to re-frame your issues so they resonate with your target audience and lead to behavior change with keynote speaker, Dr. Moira O’Neil, at CADCA\u2019s Mid-Year Training Institute at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas July 17th-21S t<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

O’Neil is a senior researcher and director of interpretation at the FrameWorks Institute, which designs, conducts and publishes communications research to prepare non-profit organizations to expand their constituency base, to build public will, and to further public understanding of specific social issues.<\/p>\n

For primary prevention, for example, O\u2019Neil, will delve into the monumental impact that coalitions are already making and help re-shape your messages related to prevention as a societal responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo help make policy and systems-level changes, we have to help change the minds of the community, to help them see that drug use is not a moral failing or the result of bad parenting,\u201d O\u2019Neil said.<\/p>\n

With empirical research, O\u2019Neil will help coalitions enhance their community communications strategy to develop messaging that stresses the overall societal impact of substance abuse and misuse. One issue, in which most of society can relate to, is the public health crisis afflicting America due to the use and abuse of heroin and other opioid drugs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about re-framing the \u201cus versus them\u201d mentality for better public health, O\u2019Neil said. \u201cWe will discuss the bigger importance of talking to a broader public, not just speaking to someone suffering from addiction.\u201d<\/p>\n
