Cualquier uso de drogas ilegales por parte de los j\u00f3venes no es saludable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Para cumplir con su misi\u00f3n de proteger a los j\u00f3venes de nuestra naci\u00f3n, los mensajes de prevenci\u00f3n del abuso de drogas deben ser claros, simples y pr\u00e1cticos: No usar alcohol, nicotina, marihuana y otras drogas por razones de salud. Este mensaje reconoce que el uso de cualquier droga por parte de los j\u00f3venes est\u00e1 asociado con la probabilidad de usar otras drogas. Refleja la poderosa investigaci\u00f3n sobre los efectos negativos de estas sustancias, no solo en los \u00f3rganos vitales del cuerpo sino tambi\u00e9n en el cerebro adolescente excepcionalmente vulnerable. Subraya que todas estas drogas son ilegales para los j\u00f3venes porque hace mucho tiempo nuestra naci\u00f3n decidi\u00f3 que su uso no es saludable ni prudente para los j\u00f3venes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Este mensaje de salud p\u00fablica de inutilidad es realista. Est\u00e1 respaldado por un nuevo an\u00e1lisis de investigaci\u00f3n de cuatro d\u00e9cadas de uso de drogas informado por j\u00f3venes estadounidenses que muestra un crecimiento dram\u00e1tico en el porcentaje de j\u00f3venes que no usan ninguna droga en absoluto. Este grupo se llama los abstemios. Su comportamiento est\u00e1 revirtiendo las tendencias anteriores en el uso de drogas ilegales. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El objetivo principal de la prevenci\u00f3n por razones de salud alienta y apoya la creciente tendencia de los j\u00f3venes a rechazar el uso de cualquier droga. Con demasiada frecuencia, los mensajes de prevenci\u00f3n se centran en una droga espec\u00edfica o en una situaci\u00f3n, como &quot;no beber si conduce&quot; y &quot;no beber en exceso&quot;. Debido a que algunas drogas son legales para el uso de adultos, el mensaje para los ni\u00f1os puede ser borroso, como estar &quot;libre de drogas&quot; sin explicar lo que eso significa. Los mensajes de prevenci\u00f3n a veces transmiten que el consumo de drogas por parte de los j\u00f3venes es inevitable y fomentan un menor consumo, normalizando as\u00ed el consumo de drogas entre los j\u00f3venes, o se centran en algunas consecuencias particulares del consumo de drogas en lugar de no consumirlas o dejar de consumirlas.<\/p>\n<p>Muchos adultos son reacios a ser directos sobre el mensaje de no usar ninguna droga. Decir a los j\u00f3venes que no consuman alcohol, nicotina, marihuana u otras drogas por razones de salud es claro y se basa en investigaciones cient\u00edficas. Los padres, en particular, deben saber que lo que les dicen a sus hijos sobre el uso de drogas es importante y que no es razonable usarlas. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El mensaje predominante de salud y seguridad sobre el uso de cinturones de seguridad en un veh\u00edculo es absolutamente claro: use siempre el cintur\u00f3n de seguridad. Se necesita esa misma claridad sobre el uso de drogas ilegales. Para los j\u00f3venes que consumen drogas, este mensaje de prevenci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n es importante: Deje de consumir porque es malo para su salud. Este mensaje, basado en la preocupaci\u00f3n por la salud de los j\u00f3venes, se puede comunicar con firmeza pero con respeto. Es importante que quienes trabajamos en el campo de la prevenci\u00f3n no seamos confusos en nuestros mensajes. Cuando no tenemos claro el uso de drogas por parte de los j\u00f3venes, deshonramos nuestras responsabilidades con los j\u00f3venes.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Robert L.
