Description

In this session, participants will learn strategies to authentically engage youth coalition members in health policy and advocacy efforts, as well as how to actively engage adult coalition members in multi-sectoral collaboration in local policy change efforts. Learn how our youth coalition (along with guidance and support from coalition staff and sector partners) educated City leadership on the health dangers of electronic cigarette use in an effort to advocate for the passing of an indoor electronic cigarette ordinance. This session will also provide information on the process of identifying and engaging community partners in the local policy/advocacy process, as well as information on the coalition's role in ensuring the implementation and enforcement of success policy change.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Identify key partners to engage in health policy and advocacy efforts at the local level.

2. Engage youth coalition members in health policy and advocacy change at the local level.
