Engaging and Integrating LGBTQ+ Youth Into Your Coalition and Programming

Monday, July 15th
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Room:
Grapevine B
Description:

LGBTQ+ youth often face huge struggles in their identity development, cultural representation, and health disparities related to substance use disorders. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss how coalitions can engage and support LGBTQ+ youth through inclusive policies, Youth Advisory Councils, Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs), and prevention education. Workshop participants can expect to leave with examples of best practices, resources, and perspectives to aid in their coalition work.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

1. Understand how inclusive policies can support positive youth development for LGBTQ+ youth.
2. Learn about substance use health disparities amongst LGBTQ+ youth.
3. Develop practical skills in LGBTQ+ youth engagement in coalition work.
4. Design LGBTQ+ culturally inclusive marketing and communications.

All presentations that have been made available to CADCA have been posted at this time.
