Drug Misuse on College Campuses: Engaging Community Members and Law Enforcement in Prevention Efforts

Description

This panel discussion will feature an overview of drug use rates among college students, including marijuana, vaping, and prescription drug misuse, and the Drug Enforcement Administration's community outreach and prevention support efforts for colleges and universities. Panelists also will discuss their strategic efforts to engage community stakeholders, including law enforcement personnel, in prevention efforts on and off campus. Attendees will be encouraged to share successes and challenges they face in preventing drug misuse among college students, as well as interact with panelists throughout the session.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session:

1) Participants will increase their knowledge about current data trends related to drug use among college students.
2) Participants will become familiar with the range of resources available from DEA to prevent drug misuse among college students.
3) Participants will learn strategies for engaging community members, including law enforcement personnel, in prevention efforts on and off campus.
4) Participants will share their successes and challenges, with the intent of learning from each other about what is (and is not) working to prevent drug misuse among college students.
