Cultural Competency with Native Youth

Description: 

This session will provide a beginning introduction to traditional cultural ceremonies commonly used between tribes, the different struggles of Reservation Native Americans and Urban Natives Americans, and a look at Native Privilege and strengths in the community. We will have an overview of the Native ACES scores and the common traumas of Native Country.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to: 

1. A general knowledge of common ceremonies used.
2. Comparison of Urban and Reservation Natives.
3. Strengths we can use with youth to help motivate change and connection in their culture.
4. A knowledge of the trauma that the past generations of Native American have faced.
