Crazy Cool Prevention
Excitement, creativity, and outside-of-the-box thinking can power the engine of your coalition helping you to engage youth and community members in new, different, and meaningful ways. In this session, sixteen year substance abuse prevention veteran Dave Bratton will give examples of unique and creative approaches he and his coalitions have utilized during his time in the field. How did MARVEL Comics, Hollywood stars, television shows, YouTube videos, arcades, college administrators, town officials, schools, comedians, local pharmacies, local law enforcement, and original brand creation, mix together to accomplish substance abuse prevention goals and support and implement strategies for community change? Attend to learn the answer. All participants will leave with samples and strategies to replicate similar initiatives should they choose to do so.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to Identify why creativity can be vital to substance abuse prevention efforts. Understand how branding affects a coalition's image and impacts its effectiveness. Communicate and market their message and coalition in a more effective way.
