Conducting Focus Groups: Sharpening the Community Picture
Focus groups are an excellent way to gather non-scripted information from community members and engage with partners in a meaningful way. They can be a particularly useful strategy for understanding the “why” behind common norms, attitudes and perceptions. This session will walk participants through the focus group process, from design through follow-up. Learn how you can generate a more focused image of your data.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Create a focus group design, including developing interview questions and facilitation techniques
2) Work with community partners to ensure best-fit participation
3) Create a plan for examination and dissemination of focus group results
