Thursday, February 6, 2020

Chesapeake G-I

With the increasing expansion of the direct-to-consumer (DTC) market through home deliveries and direct shipment of alcohol products to consumers’ front door comes increased risk of illegal sales to minors and enforcement challenges. The scientific evidence on DTC services and best practice recommendations related to responsible beverage service training and enforcement protocols are limited, yet legislatures throughout the country are moving quick to adopt these policies. Come hear from the regulatory and enforcement experts on the current status and what is being done to regulate and enforce this new alcohol marketplace.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1) Describe the current landscape of policies permitting home deliveries and direct shipment of alcohol products throughout the U.S.

2) Identify what considerations should be raised to protect public health and safety as it relates to the policy debate.

3) Explain strategies alcohol regulators and law enforcement are deploying to ensure the public is safe in this new era of alcohol access.
