8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Room:
San Antonio 4-6
Description:

In this Spanish-language session, seasoned international coalition development trainers will explain all of the actions and activities that need to take place prior to the implementation of the Training of Leaders. Phase zero consists of all of the pre-training activities, tasks and products that need to be developed by the local coordinators charged with the formation of community coalitions. The successful completion of all these tasks will help ensure the success of the training and future coalition development efforts. The session will be based on the Peruvian experience, which can be easily applied in or adapted for use in all other countries. Utilizing case studies, role play, simulations, and comparisons, among other teaching aids, the instructors will teach material which will enhance participant knowledge and skills to strengthen community interventions as they pertain to the selection of intervention zones and coalition core teams and other community stakeholders conducive to the implementation of the TOL.

At the end of the training session, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and understand the key actions that must be carried out in order to select the most favorable area to implement a community coalition
  2. Select community leaders to guide the community coalition formation process by identifying and analyzing certain key characteristics which will increase their chance of success
